Simple question about warranty

AFAIK Tunze's warranty is 2 years, right? Two questions - bear with me.

1) If I purchased a Tunze stream pump, and say after 3 years the smoke comes out of it. Assuming you would have replaced the unit under warranty had this happen during the first 2 years, am I correct in saying since it now has been 3 years I will have to pay for fixing the pump?

2) Assume I purchase a Tunze stream pump. I put it in my aquarium but never realise that it does not actually work - i.e. it does not move the water. After 3 years I come to you and ask to have the unit replaced for free since there has been a defect from the start. Would it be replaced for free? (Assume I have some way of proving that it never worked). Or does it have to be reported within the warranty period?

I am trying to get a feel for what product support is like on physical products in comparison to virtual products.

I'd appreciate it if someone (Roger?) can help me out with these questions.

Hi Mr31415,

The warranty is covered from original purchase date so keep your purchase receipt same as any other retail warranty.
The warranty details are stated with the product and on the web site.
I think you will find warranty period covers original purchase period so with in the original 2 years.
Tunze are a very reasonable company, I know from experience that Tunze are very fair and will consider all circumstances in any reasonable warranty period.

Best Regards
Graeme
