Sites that you like to visit

I think its great that we have a lot of new people on the forum hungry for information.......because of this "hunger" for information, and it was requested.......I think it would be cool to put in this thread all of the sites that you frequent to give you knowledge, keep you up to date on products, manufactures sites and what not.

I ask, that this NOT become an advertisment or cheerleader thread for places or companies to keep it neutral and fair to all so that these people can make thier own decisions on who to buy from or where to get there info. I think by just stating the positive and only give links under the intention of research and in the pursuit of knowlege that this will be a good reference tool for the future......this is a tool for teaching and guidance.....not to sell product, please keep that where it belongs.

So PLEASE, no bashing, hate, or rants. Even if you don't agree on the service, please do not comment on that here. I find the vendor sites I listed to some degree very informative on there selection guides and descriptions and were a vital part of my learning process.......I spent a year voraciously reading threads on this forum and the questions/answers on wetwebmedia.........I am SOOOO glad I did. I hope these help others too.

I plan on dumping my bookmarked stuff that I have to help people on there way in their journey into obsessivness. I bookmarked it for a reason didn't I?

Obviously, the Reef Central homepage is the first and foremost the place to start.........when you have exhausted those links........ones I check out are...........in no order:

Josh,

Great idea. I have been trying to figure out how to pull down a feed of the "for:_____" tags on del.icio.us. I recently sent a request into their developer help, but it would make a really cool way for members to share links. I just went though the NVR links and put them all on delicious and sent a feed back to the NVR website to replace the static links.

Now any link that I tag is automagically fed here:
http://nvreefers.org/community/knowledge.php

It would be really cool to set it up so anyone can tag a link and have it feed to a website, for example for:nvreefers or for:mars, etc... I'm sure it's do able, hopefully support will get back to me, if so I'll pass on what they say.

Jacob,
Yeah, I'm not really sure the best approach for it either - but I figured there must be some way to do it. I'll dig around a little and see if I can find it too.

Thanks,
Josh

No word from the other end yet, but I thought about it a little and I don't see why it wouldn't work as is. Here's the way I have it set up, any club with a website could easily do this too...

1. Create a del.icio.us account for the club
2. Get the RSS feed script from del.icio.us (no coding experience needed) and plug it into a 'links' page (or whatever) on the club website.
3. Go tag some sites and they will automagically be added to the club website.
4. Tell any club members that they can contribute too by using delicious and tagging their favorite sites with the "for:clubname" tag.
5. The owner of the club delicious account (probably the webmaster) can review all the "for:clubname" bookmarks and save them into the "your bookmarks" list for the club, they will now also appear on the club's website.

This takes an extra step by the webmaster, but it makes for a good approval process in case someone accidentally tags their favorite porn site for the club ;)

Anyway it's just food for thought. I'm not sure who the current MARS webmaster is otherwise I would mention it to them too. Your suggestion inspired me so went ahead with it. Now I've just gotta spread the word to the club members, probably only the more 'techy' ones use delicious but it's still a cool way to share links and add them to the club resource all in one shot. Now I'm going to tag some of the links you guys posted above :D
