Six Line Wrasse Question/Concern

So I've heard all the horror stories about keeping Six Line's in aquariums with other fish, but I'm pretty sure this isn't the case for ALL Six Line's right?

This is the stocking list I want for my 20H:
Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Yellow Watchman Goby
Bangaii Cardinal
Occelaris

So, if I add the Six Line LAST...would that help with the aggression issues? I really want one to help with some of the bristleworms (I fear I may have some fire-bristleworms and they are starting to leave the rocks and are in the substrate now).

OR can someone suggest a different fish to compliment my stock list that'll snack on these bristleworms?

many people consider bristleworms good for the tank

don't add the 6 line...they are a PITA!

A sixline in a tank that size with those tankmates would be a really risky venture. The are VERY territorial and can become very aggressive as time goes on.. Your stock list is fine given the tank size. Bristleworms are a normal part of a healthy tank environment. They compliment your clean-up crew and are good sand shifters. Their numbers are controllable by the amount you feed the tank. Feed lightly and you won't have too many. They are also not that difficult to trap if you feel you have too many or some that are too large. Pass on the sixline!

I have a 34g solana and added pair of Occelaris clowns, then 6 line, the coral beauty and they all were fine for months....Greedy I added a goby, in less than 24 hours my wrasse, goby, and one clown have all jumped from tank...

Anything works short term, if you want long term success listen to the people that have dealt with it. Just my 2c.

Bristleworms are generally a very good thing.

Sixlines are a gamble you make, with your other fish's lives.

I had a six line, but in a 55, that never bothered anyone. That being said, I still had lots of bristle worms. But I agree with others, the bristle worms are a healthy part of your mini-ecosystem!

I had a 6 line wrasse in a 75 reef with 2 dwarf lions, 1 yellow tang a chevron tang and a coral beauty for 3 years never had a problem.
I used him to eradicate the worms and then I used Super Tongan Nassarius Snail (Nassarius distortus)
to keep the sand bed clean and I had no problems at all!

They are AMAZING at controlling worm problems

Though I had lots of LR and a ton of hiding places, and none of the fish I had were easily intimidated. The only one in your list that he might bother is the shrimp and the Goby. Though that is just my opinion.

I had a bad worm problem, and I got a yellow corris wrasse. for the past 7 months he has been very friendly and now I can't find one worm!

I have a six-line in a BC14; it's the only fish in the tank and is going to stay that way. I tried introducing a yellow clown goby at one point figuring hey, it's small and totally harmless, but it never came out from hiding and eventually turned up dead. My wife and I never saw the six-line directly harass the goby but figured that its aggressive behavior kept the goby in hiding.

In any case,

I'm pretty sure this isn't the case for ALL Six Line's right?

Possibly not - females are likely to be less aggressive than males in general - but how were you planning on telling whether an individual member of the species is different from all the others? A fish's behavior in the fish store isn't indicative of how it'll behave in your aquarium.

Fish are only going to eat the small bristleworms anyway. Skip the wrasse in that size tank.

I have been thinking about adding a six line wrasse to my 75 g......currently I have two oscellaris clowns, 3 blue streak cardinals, 3 blue green chromis, 1 yellow clown goby, 1 yellow tang, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 blood shrimp, and some astrea snails.....what do you think?
I missed out on a cryptic six line at my Lfs.....they went fast.....supposed to be much more reef safe....

Hey bud,
I have a black clown, dart fish and a 6 line in my tank which (28gal nc) and never had a problem. He was introduced last into the tank and that may have played a roll in it.

Ok. I'm past the whole six line thing. I'm just not going to bother with the headaches. On to the next question thread about my stock list!
