size difference when trying to pair clowns

Last week one of my occelaris clowns decided to go carpet surfing so i am planning on adding another one to the tank. will it hurt to put one in that is less than half the size of the current one, or should i try to find somthing closer to the size of what i have now? or would i be better off getting rid of the lone one i have left and getting 2 that are about the same size from LFS?

You want to add a small one. The Larger one if it is not already a female will become one.

how much smaller? How long does the transformation take? For instance in a tank in the LFS, with lets say 20 clowns in it, i get the largest one out of there, would it have already decided to change? or should i just choose a random one out of the tank and hope for the best?
I did notice that there were a couple of dominant ones in there chasing the others around, should i avoid ones like that?
