I have a larger FOWLR system. My wife is really set on having seahorses and putting her current pipefish in with them. Would one of those 24 gallon aquapod tanks work for a certain species of seahorse that may be easy to get?
One, I really don't recommend a tank smaller than 30 gallons for any of the readily available species; and the aquapod-type tanks have a tendency to run warm (you need to keep tropical seahorses between 71-74 degrees), and to need mods for flow adjustment. This thread has a lot about modding the tanks to make them work http://forum.seahorse.org/index.php?showtopic=34647
Two, mixing seahorses and pipefish is taking a huge risk. Syngnathids have a tendency to get each other REALLY sick; even mixing seahorses from different sources can be an issue. The likelihood that the seahorses and/or the pipefish would get sick or die from the mixing is really high; and mixing in a small water volume makes the risk even higher. I highly recommend that you do a lot of reading on mixing species and mixing sources before you attempt it. The problem is further complicated because the WC pipefish are probably also carrying parasites in addition to the foreign bacteria.
