Hello,

Thanks for your question, it seems that your going in the right direction. I do recommend going one size bigger for you skimmer The RS-80's realistic rating is 80gal with an average bio load, you have a 90gal tank not to mention the water in the sump, of course you are going to displace some water with rocks and sand, but your still right on the border there take a look at this skimmer ( rs-100) http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=ER1415 this skimmer will handle an average bio load in a100gal tank and it measures 8 1/2 X10 which will still fit in the allotted space. Don't forget the available height! Make sure you have enough space for that your going to need at least 23" inside the cabinet. I hope this was helpful, send us an email at customercare@marinedepot.com if you have any further questions.
