Skimmer Collection Cup Drain.....

Looking for some ideas regarding the set up of a collection cup drain.

I just picked up an Octopus Extreme 160 and it has a spot to attach a hose for drain at the bottom of the collection cup.

Never seen one set up and wondering where you drain the cups to. And where to locate a drainage reservoir. All my equipment will be under my stand.

Any ideas or configurations for set up would be great.

anything that will fit in whatever free area you have....i think i remember seeing somebody before used a very large jack daniels bottle

so if you don't have one, goto the liquor store & get one....you have a head start to get it "emptied" before the skimmer arrives

LOL

I drilled and tapped my last skimmer and used a 1/4 fitting.

As for the collection cup, I used a 2 gallon jug from Wallyworld and fitted a float switch on it to kill the pumps if there was an oveflow.

That's a good idea. The problem I am running into is that I have to go up and out of the sump. So the cup will pretty much fill anyway. I have to have a better look at it.

Thanks for the replies

FYI.... water won't run up.. Once some water accumulates in the hose, the skimmer will stop removing waste. build a stand and raise the skimmer in the sump.

I just use an empty 1 gallon water jug. I drilled a hole in the cap just smaller than the hose so the hose fits tight and doesn't fall out.
