is a skimmer good enought filtration for a reef of cource im going to get live rock. What brand is good was looking at the cpr bak pak thank ofr the input

skimmers arent filters in the sense of breaking down amonia to less harmful forms. That would be live rock. A skimmer just pulls out crap in the water.

But i strongly suggest the aqua c remora. I've got one on my 29 and its awsome. The cpr might be ok. Lots of people say they're just ok, nothing better, and lots say they're not so great. But it seems the key is to have them on a small tank like yours.

Another one to look at is the coralife superskimmer 65. Many people like this skimmer due to cheap price and "good" quality. I personally hated mine tho. Never did get it to work right so its just sitting there now.

I have an AquaC Remora on my 40 and like it. Good skimmer for smaller tanks. Also if you have the buck, the Deltec MC300 is really nice.

if you are on a tight budget, go with any of the CSS (Coralife Super Skimmers). They are great for the price. I got a CSS65 on my 29 gallon and i personally like it alot. It does require tuning about once every 2 days, but its not bad at all. It takes like 5 seconds and all you have to do is turn a red dial.

Do a search here at RC and you'll find people either love the AquaC or hate it. Personally I'd spend the extra $$$ and go with the Deltec (the pump is internal for that skimmer, but Precision Marine make a nice HOT skimmer for the same price as an AquaC. Octopus makes some nice skimmers as well. Just make sure before you spend $$$ do lots of research:cool:

Tunze 9002 which is about $135. Hang in design as opposed to hang on. The reefpack 200 from Tunze could be an option as well priced at around $185.

Running the 9002 in my 30G for the last week and it's doing a great job. Very quiet.

Tunze 9002 Skimmer

Tunze Reefpack 200

Just another option for you :)
