Skimmer for a 220

If i was in your shoes, i would take down all the skimmers that have been mentioned here, make a list of ones that would work for you and then start flipping through the selling forum here on RC and any local boards. There is always someone who is selling a skimmer at a great cost. JMO. Dont buy some cheap skimmer just to say you have one. It wont preform, and you will be out of money on that item also. Good luck.

Thanks, I guess I'll just have to keep saving. This is what I've paid so far:

-Tank, stand, canopy, wet/dry, little giant pump, 100lbs of sand, and some power compacts for $600.00
-100 more pounds of sand for $100.00
-230lbs of live rock for $200.00
-2 koralia 4 for $70.00
-DIY tunze wavebox and controller, total project for about $200.00
-DIY twin coil and sulfur denitrators, around $250.00 to make the both of them
-72" power compacts with moonlights for $250.00
-Rena XP4 canister filter for $130.00

...and I guess that's it for now. I usually take my time and look around a lot before I buy something. I'm planning on building a refugium at least 40 gallons, that's where I plan to put the skimmer, but I need to make the doors on my stand bigger first, that wiil be a good adventure as I fear might tanks might come down on me! I'm around 1,800; but I'm still planning on buying and DIYing a lot. After that is LIVESTOCK, as my chromis are feeling lonely.

Yea agree with most of the above. Neither one of the skimmers you mentioned is worth a hot in my opinion. Take their advice and wait for something better. A msx 250 would be about as small as I would go. or a 200 series of warner marine skimmers. I would suggest getting a list of the skimmers you want that will work.

I would sell the canister filter and put that money towards a skimmer personally.

Yep, I might sell the canister and the wet/dry filter after I build my new sump.
