Skimmer for a 360?

If I thought it was a bad choice it wouldn't have been recommended and yes I know all you stated above ^. For reference, here are the specs.
Footprint: 23.7" x 19.7"
Air Intake: 3000 LPH
Chamber Diameter: 16 Inches
Height: 23.3 inches
My previous point to biecacka was basically saying instead of knocking my suggestion how about making one of your own. I've had Vertex skimmers, etc. and I think the JNS is great value for the money and its performing awesome on a system of the exact same size as the OP's. Everyone wants to suggest Bubble King's and Vertex Alphas, etc. but I personally think they are overpriced, and yes I have had one previously. I'll let it be at that as I feel that I am already disrupting the original intent of the OP. Good day.

I am well aware of the specs.. Notice that they don't include the neck diameter.. As such, I chose not to comment for or against that particular skimmer as they don't publish the full specs and neck diameter happens to be relevant and very critical for that matter.

My comment was more related to your response to Biecacka comment and I thought there was some validity to his reasoning although it may not be applicable to the JNS since we don't know the neck diameter. Since many here may not be looking at a JNS, the notion that you can't overskim while valid, can lead people to purchase grossly oversized skimmers that end up under performing for the reasons I mentioned previously. Thus I thought it would be important to dispel the myth or implication that you can't get too large of a skimmer. While I know you didn't say that specifically, your comment may have lead others to think that was inadvertently what you were implying.

I too have owned my share of high end skimmers as well as low end ones. I was not impressed with the Vertex/Alpha 300 for reasons I mentioned as well as the difficulty in getting it dialed in with two separate adjustable volutes. On the other hand, the Supermarin 250 that I am currently running happens to be the best performing skimmer I have ever owned and I've owned dozens of different skimmers in the last 27 years. I've had becketts, down drafts, venturi's, Klase skimmers, Reef Octopus, Vertex, BK's, Barr Aquatics, PM, Euro Reef etc so I have plenty to compare too. Based on my experience with the SM250, I am very pleased with the results and based on it's quality and performance, I would not consider this one to be overpriced given how well it works and how well it's built. It will likely be the last skimmer I purchase for a very long time.

That said, the JNS does look like a very nice skimmer and I do like it's big body and design. If it has a smaller neck diameter like I suspect it does from looking at the photos, it too may be a very good choice for the OP. I say may because again, the neck size would be critical to make a blanket statement IMO. Any chance you would take a minute and measure the neck diameter? I am very curious myself as it does look like a beast.

Calm down, no one is knocking your post. I'm asking because I might be in the market for a new skimmer and was just curious. Don't take it so personal man:sad2: I was only saying that a skimmer too large can sit idle for extended times; as Slief said. I wast attacking you, just asking a question and trying to make a point that that difference seems rather large is all. I wasn't suggesting any of the skimmers you point out(BK or Alphas) I run a beckett.
Have a good day
