Skimmer going crazy

So this morning I changed my filter sock and when doing so my skimmer started foaming an overflowing really bad has anyone had this happen to them before?

It helps to rinse them with hot water and wring them out well before going in. Minimizes the skimmer going crazy.

Yup, definitely your filter sock is to blame. Have to rinse them out first !

A new sock always made my skimmer go nuts. My solution was to leave the skimmer off for about an hour after I installed a new sock. Problem solved.

Thats a idea, but I wonder what chemical is in the sock to make the skimmer go nuts. Now the chemical is in your system... just a thought...

Yeah I unplugged the skimmer I'm at work right now .... I'll plug it back in when I get home but yeah I'll definitely rinse them out first from now on

I always bleach my socks in the washer and ALWAYS rinse twice. Never detergent! Only bleach. Then I air dry.

I agree with this, rinse twice and let dry for several days.

It happens to me once in a while. It seems like it happens more often after the sock gets run through the dryer (accidentally).

I like your idea RDubh, keep the skimmer off for a while...

I always let them air dry. And typically it's several weeks before one makes it to the tank. Leaving my skimmer off for an hour or so has definitely stop the overflow caused be a new sock.
