Skimmer Off During Ich Treatment?

I have had the infamous hippo tang ich problem for a couple weeks now. He even got my Naso infected. I've always heard that you should turn off the protein skimmer during treatment. My question is... does that mean keep the skimmer completely off during the 2-3 weeks you are treating for ich or does that mean for only 30 mins or so after each dosage? If you keep it off that entire time, won't the tank become saturated with all the bad things the skimmer removes?

I'm trying two remedies simultatneously... A natural remedy (Ich Attach by Kordon) and garlic. We'll see how it works... I don't want to have to resort to putting all fish in a Q-tank just yet...

Thanks.

yes they say to turn off ur skimmer for the time, but it wont harm ur tank too much. I have friends that have reef tanks with no skimmer. I just tried kick ich and garlic and it didnt work. If your fish continues to be stressed, it will more than likley remain

I just tried kick-ich and garlic too. I am mixed on it, the ich went away but then the clowns got brooks and died. But i haven't seen the ich back yet. I have a 29 gallon with 20 gallon sump, and used 4 oz. each time. I only did the regular schedule not the heavy one, but after all treatments were given I did one or two more skipping a day each time. In the end my fish are in a QT tanks right now, so good luck.
