skimmer ? on 500gl system

Im setting up a 500gl system. Its a 300gl and 120gl displays with a 125gl sump.I have an ASM g5 alreadybut dont think it will be enough for this system with a decent amount of fish in it. I have an opurtunity to get a second G5. What do you all think of running 2 skimmer vs selling my G5 and getting like a G6 or something.

You know my take on this. Get another G5. It will be much better than a single G6. If you want to improve them even more, add a little ozone to the intake of one of the pumps in each skimmer.

well you could run a 2nd G5. then clean them on off cycles so the one is slimed up and foaming by the time you clean the other. then you always have one full force and one cleaning.

if it were me though i'd leave this as a chance to get a big deltec skimmer

you need something 12 in diameter

Thanks for the input. I dont have and im not sure im willing to spend crazy amounts of money on a big name skimmer. Maybe i will try the 2xG5

any high end big skimmer like Deltec or ER would be nice

skimping on the skimmer with a system of that size is..... silly. If you are willing to do that much work it only makes sense to get the appropriate equipment.

If you don't want to spend the $ maybe that system is just too big for you.

I would get a big H&S skimmer from finsreef.com. The quality is superior to that of Deltec or ER.

I really like the idea of 2 skimmers I am running a beckett wet, and a needlewheel dry. You could do the same thing with 2 G5's. I pull out alot of particles with the wet beckett and some nice mud with the NW skimmer.

i would get a custom dart needlewheel from spazz, way more efficient than a deltec, h&s, even a bk, and cheaper too

you can always go custom. I had spazz build me a 18" round 22x22 base almost 6' tall dart needle wheel skimmer that cost less than deltec/bubble kind and runs on less power

there is nothing like a deltec. if you can try and find a used one and get a good deal. they are awesome skimmers with no worrying if anything will go wrong with it. i just bought my first used one and wont go back to anything but a deltec now. they might be a little over priced but once you use one you will see why.
