Skimmer on dedicated loop

I am currently in the process of designing a 360 gal aquarium. I wondered if there is a skimmer that can be used on it's own closed loop. We don't want a sump because all for sides and the bottom will be viewable. I am also trying to figure out how to work a calcium reactor in this system. A remote sump is not possible because it will be in a concrete floor showroom.

It could be done, but I think that micro bubbles are going to be a huge factor. Basically, drill the tank, run the pump to the skimmer so that the output of the skimmer is above the tank level and then return it to the tank's surface.

I think there is going to be a lot of troubleshooting. So much that adding a sump under the tank would be a lot easier, but it's not impossible.

You can't install it in a way we typically use the term closed loop. The loop must be OPEN, for air to escape the skimmer. If you hooked a skimmer up like a closed loop is typically hooked up, water would come flying out the colletion cup. You could do something like Hop said and keep the collection cup above the top of the tank, this would be the same as a hang on skimmer installation basically.

Where are you planning on placing the equipment?

On a tank that size you are goiong to need a big skimmer so HOB skimmer aren't really an option. There is no reason that the sump has to be below to tank, want about adding an unviewable section on the end or side of the tank? You really need to have a sump some where, so you can hide heaters, and add other equipment like fluidisers, carbon, top up, etc
