Skimmer or Refugium

What would be a better sump space use? A refugium or a protein skimmer for a seahorse tank?

Fuge, think Copepods, lower nitrates and phosphates, detoxing toxins. If you put live rock, that's more bio filtration for them messy mysis eaters

I would worry about GBD unless you do big water changes. A fuge helps a lot with nutrient export but I don't know if it is as effective with dissolved organics as a protein skimmer so I would keep that in mind.

If your plants and LR are in the display you can still have a protein skimmer in the sump.

I have both.

All my seahorse tanks have the live rock in them as it makes it much easier to view the seahorses and much easier to clean out the crap that provides nasty bacterial beds.
