skimmer problems

im ready to throw this skimmer out the window.. i have the super reef octopus in sump skimmer with the bubbleblaster 1000 pump.. its the one rated to 125g.. it seems like no matter what i do it just keeps overflowing.. i built a platform and its sitting in less than 3" of water i removed the gate valve and the extension pipe.. and it just fills with bubbles and overflows the skimmer.. to the point where it makes my sump look like a jaccuzzi...

anyone else have this skimmer? and can give me some advice..

I have this skimmer and have it sitting in about 7" of water with no issues. How long have you had the skimmer for?

i have the 2000xp....apparently these guys need to be broken in for about a month before they kick in properly. also water height is a big factor. I have mine in @ 6.5" of water.
You can try and run it in the sink for about an hour with a water and vinegar solution to clean it out of all oils and other things that make them go nuts. after a good cleaning let it run in your sump with the gate valve and the extension pipe in tact but wide open for a while then slowly adjust it over the course of a few weeks.

the problem is with the pipe and gate it overflows the cup..

I got the same skimmer and the same problem. just put skimmer online last night and it won't stop overflowing with water no matter what height the water is and with gate valve wide open. did you ever find a solution?
