skimmer pump pumps more then return pump?

i have a mrc mr2 but my skimmer pump is pumping the water out of the returns faster then my return pump pumps up the the tank.i put a return on the skimmer pump but then it doesnt seen to work as well. any ideas? i was going to pump the skimmer water back into the return side but then the pvc is to much of an anglke and adds to much back pressure for the skimmer.<a href="http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/tony45power/?action=view&current=000_0581.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/tony45power/000_0581.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

The skimmer should pump from and then back into the same section of the sump. Can it be set up that way in your system?

I'm assuming this isn't a recirculating skimmer setup.
