Skimmer Pump Suggestions

What are the suggested pumps to be used with these skimmers (CS1 Pegleg Skimmer)?

Here are the pumps i have collected over the time.
Eheim 1260
Eheim 1262
AquaBee 2000
TUNZE Hydrofoamer 9420
Sicce PSK 2500

I have been leaning on the Eheim and TUNZE need some reassurance from others.
 
I had used the Tunze and seemed to work well, it fits under the skimmer and in the uniseal no problem. The Sicce PSK 2500 that they sell with their own volute seems to put out considerably more flow than the Tunze. FWIW I was using the Tunze with a volute made for the I-Tech skimmers.
 
I think the AB2000 might be a little small. 1260 and 1262 are good choices is they have been modified correctly, the same can be said for the 2500. 9420 is solid. 800-1100lph is a good range to shoot for on pump selection.

I got the CS1 and Im using the psk2500 with the Avast volute and I am 100% happy with it. It pulls out alot of crap and the best parts is I didnt have to mod it .
 
Just curious but would replacing the Sicce 2500 with an Eheim 1262 increase the ability of the skimmer to handle a larger bioload since the 1262 has a greater output?
 
The Eheim does not have greater air draw, but does have a little more water draw. So to answer your question; a little bit, but not enough that I would change the skimmers rating.
 
at are school skimmer we run the sicce 1000 it works perfect on it.Thanks again to avast marine.I have been a little busy but I will post pics and maybe a video soon:cool:

Just curious, but if I already have an Eheim 1262, can I just purchase the parts necessary to connect it to the pegleg?
 
Since the pegleg has a 1" uniseal for the input, the Eheim should be easy to put on. A 3/4" npt pipe will fit in the Eheim threads, then a 3/4 to 1" bushing. May have to lay pump on side and add an elbow but, these are all parts you can easily find at the local hardware store.
 
My eheim 1260 did not fit under the skimmer. I will have to make bigger rods to make it fit. Or lay it one the side like mentioned above.

I wish the eheim needlewheel upgrade was more affordable. Seems like spending $150 to get a needle wheel is pretty expensive. I sadly might brake down and buy one.
 
Bringing this thread back.

Looking for some more skimmer pump advise.

I have been using a Sicce PSK2500 with ATB Needlewheel (Purple impeller) with good results. This pump came with my MSX 160 and I decided to buy the AVAST skimmer and use a pump off the MSX 160. Now I am trying to sell the MSX 160 with the pump, so I need a new skimmer pump. Trying to go forward with the pump selection and not backwards.

What exactly should I look for in the skimmer pump. The specs on the 1260 are more than 800-1100 lph you stated at the end of the comment. I was considering using the Bubble Blaster Pump but trying to figure out which model to go with.

I have no problem buying a needlewheel impeller for the eheim 1260. But if it is gonna cost me $150 for just the needlewheel, I would rather spend a little more and consider a newer pump and have it under warranty.

I have considered using the 1260 (w/Eheim Needlewheel) TUNZE 9420, or Bubble Blaster.

Just trying to figure out how to make the decision on the pump.

Three things (I believe): (1) the new motorblock has more torque, which allows it to deal with higher head pressure and avoid restart issues, (2) the new pump has a symmetrical volute so that the direction the pump starts in doesn't change the skimmer output, and (3) it's supposed to be quieter.
 
Do you actually have one of the PSK-1000?

Can you show pictures?

I really wish I would be able to look at one before buying one, like a test drive.

I just found this thread and i'm not sure if you moved forward on this or not but if you are in the area drop me a pm on DFWMAS and I'll be glad to show you my CS1 with the PSK 1000. I was a little concerned using the pump as I heard some people were having start up issues with the older model but this thing has been flawless since I installed it several months ago and I start stop it twice daily.
