Skimmer Q&A Thread

I've got a used reeflo orca 250 and it wont fit under my stand. Could I just keep it on the side, and run a length of plumbing to the sump? If so, would I lose too much of the pump's pressure thus renduring it useless?

I'm wondering if there is a good pump to replace my current ASM G2's Sedra 2500? So far I have the gate valve mod and a external collection container.

Or if someone can recommend an internal skimmer with a similar foot print to the G2 that would be good for my 135 gallon tank with a 60 gallon sump?

Iw ould think it will be ok. just keep the plumbing running parallel or down hill.

Mojo~

Anyone have info on any of these yet? I am really liking the looks and all, for the one in the 5th link.
My tank will now end up being around 275 gallons for the tank, and sump. I will then add some sort of frag tank later. So these look really promising, since the price for the bubble magus has looked good on some of the others

No info? Man these must be really new!! Maybe I should ask this question differently.

Which of the pumps will be the best? Atman 2500...Sicce.... Aquabee 5000... Or the Eheims?

looks like its breaking in nicely.

I would adjust the water level inside the skimmer so the bubbles are popping about half way up the neck from the bottom of the cup to the top of the neck.

start from there if its been running for a couple days.

Mojo,

I've read your reviews a number of times across a few different boards. I really appreciate all the hardwork you have done. Just want to say thanks.

Thanks.

the tunze 9410

I would just replace the skimmer with a vertex /180

that or the SRO 2000 would be a good choice.

Ok so I made the mistake of buying a coralife 65 skimmer before I read up on it. I'm looking at getting a new skimmer (HOB) for my tank. Previously I had a 40G for 4 years then had to move and could not take it with me. After getting my new house I had to get a tank again. My tank has been up and running 4 months now and all the details are below.. Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

50G

Coralife 65
Aqueon filter
Koralia 3
50 # LR
50 # LS
2 False Percs
1 Royal Gramma
1 Diamond Back Goby
Green Star Polyp frag
30 mixed snails
2 emerald crabs
6 sexy shrimp

warner marine h1 or h2

I love the Warner Marine H1 skimmer pulls like a pig and you would think it is a much bigger skimmer than it is. Build is awesome! So I am with Mojo on the H1 or H2.

Thanks for the info guys!

I was looking at the Bermuda Rogue or Aqua C but now I'll have to check out this Warner Marine H2

I need a skimmer for my system its a 150 with heavy bioload MY price ranges around 350-400. I was looking at the tunze 9011 but not sure how good it was.

looking in to a new tunze skimmer 9420 its for a 150 gallon tank heavy bioload softies lps

is this a good skimmer looking at it because of the 17 watts consumption

The bubble blaster pumps work well. They do a great job and pull lots of air with no issues.
The Tunze Pumps are dead silient and really nice as well. I wish more companies used the Tunze pump.

If I was to go with the Aqua C would you recommend the Mag 3 pump over the rio 1400 for a 50G... if so what would be the benifit of it?

Thanks again for all the usefull information!!
