if you choke off the air you will suck in more water and you dont want that. did you check to the wheel on the new pump ? is it the same as the old one. open the air back up and you might have to open the pump and compare it to the old.
where can i find the ocean force. i searched but their website isnt working. i wanted to know dimensions and prices and how to get one. thanks!
did that and everything is the same. skimmer is working fine now with the air wide open. strange. i guess the pump just needed to break in. thanks for the help.:fish1:
Hey.
I'm in the process of setting up a 60 Gallon SW tank.
I'm in need of a HOB Protein Skimmer
I've been reading reviews for a few days now, and I've kind of decided that Reef Octopus is the way to go.
I find nothing but good reviews on most of them, and I've seen some bad reviews on other brands...
Questions:
1. I can't really figure out the difference between the BH-100 and the BH-1000, besides price.
On the site I'm planning to get it from it has the exact same description; being rated for 90 Gallons, same OTP1000 Pump, same dimensions.
2. Is Reef Octopus known for being loud? I mean, I know there's going to be some noise, but in general, is it one of those where you can hear it upstairs with a TV on during the day types?
3. Flooding? Once I read one statement that includes that word, I get paranoid. I've seen like 2-3 posts in all my reviews mentioning that the cup overflowed or something.
Does this happen a lot, should one be concerned about it?
How does it happen? Is it from the air-pump?
The flooding thing has me second guessing this purchase.
Thanks
whats the best replacement pump for asm g3 skimmer.Should i stick with another sedra or go for either a sicce or bubleblaster pump

That sro lx1000s seems really nice, but it's like $175 more than what I was thinking about.
I just read a review of the BH-100, someone complaining about the Collection Cup size.
And how he has to empty it 2-3 times a day.
These HOB PSs just seem like it'll end in a mess...
Maybe I'll just start with a basic filter and live rock and see if I end up need a P.S
Mess with one then, if I need to.
Hello all,
Trying to sort out my sump design to hold my Octopus XS-160 and would like to know where to set the baseline water level. My stand is limited so I will have minimal room for adjustment up or down after after it's running so I would like to get close. Also curious if anyone recommends adding anything to the outlet like an open topped elbow with a pipe back down to the sump.
Thanks,
John
I'm thinking of a Bubble Magus NAC-7 Cone Protein Skimmer for my setup. 75g display and I think I need to go with a 29g sump. Seems this will fit in the sump and rated appropriately for my tank. FOWLR butterfly and angel with a few other fish.
Currently I have a Reef Octopus dnw 200 but don't know how to run it externally b/c of the big arm on it. How to get that output arm to fit over the edge of my 29g sump wall without the skimmer cup being against the top the top of the stand(since I'll have to lift it up) is what I'm not sure about...blah! Can we cut some plumbing off that arm and re-arrange it w/out messing up the effectiveness?
