Skimmer Q&A Thread

Anyone

Anyone

That skimmer or at least that name is not available on this side of the pond but the pump sounds familiar it is a Eden pump that is used on the Skimz line and Warner Marine skimmers The 5000 pump has been a better performer that the 2000 model.
Sorry Mojo not trying stink up your thread.

Sorry I should of done a little research that skimmer is a re badge Skimz line skimmer, I would only get the 5000 pump some info here concerning the Skimz line Have you looked into the SRO line of skimmers?

good deal. Sorry I havent been on here much. been working a bunch. I always try to respond to all pms.

Glad you like the 5.5

Mojo,

What would you recommend for a 183g display? It will be primarelly a FOWLR and will have some ricordias, and softies and some LPS just not a full reef. It will also end up being heavily stocked. I am on a budget and would like to stay under 300.

Thanks

Hey guys!

Looking for a skimmer upgrade. Current skimmer is a Nac 7. Its a decent skimmer but i think because of my water depth (7.5-8") its hard to adjust and always under performing or overflowing......

I can spend pretty much any amount i wish but obviously would like to spend as little as i can LOL. I want the best for the limited space.

Problem is fitting the best in my Eshopps 100 sump. I believe the skimmer space is 12" x 11". I have a standard 40B with the standard 40B aqueon stand.

I was thinking bubble king 160...a $400 alternative would be better!

Hi I just bought a reef octopus 8 nwb-200 i cleaned it put it in the tank after 2 days it started to produce some skimmate then out of the blue it just stopped and now it looks like alka seltzer. I'm at a loss I called coral vue and the guy said it's still breaking in but i have never heard of a protein skimmer doing this. I checked all the stuff venturi hose pin wheel etc nothing seems to be wrong. so maybe it is breaking in? it's going on 2 days with the alka seltzer
thnx for responding

Yes. It just means there is nothing to skim. So it "idles" and waits for something to skim. But give it a least a week. The skimmer still needs time to break in.

ok kool thnx i noticed it started to skim for like 2 min then stopped again lol i hope that it is just breaking in i heard a lot of great reviews on them
