skimmer question

I have a coralife superskimmer 125 in my sump
but to make it work properly, the pump must be close to the top of the water, which is a pain in the butt bc I have to add water every day (since I am changing to a fowlr I can be lazier)

if I hang the skimmer on the side of my sump, can I place the pump deeper in the sump.

or is there any other way to place the pump toward the bottom of the sump? (so i dont have to add water)

I had the pump toward the bottom of the sump with no problem. Honestly I don't see how having it higher in the water column makes a difference.

I no longer run a protein skimmer though since the macro's take care of all of the nutrient export.

You can run it deeper. Keeping it higher in the water captures more of the bad stuff, like surface skimming. If you can arrange your baffling to concentrate the overflow water around the pump then you shouldn't have any problems.

everytime i place the pump deeper in the water, then all the bubbles disappear in the skimmer chamber and it does not work at all

Bergamer I had a CSS125 with the pump 9 inches underwater Im pretty sure u can do it? Maybe the venturi is not connected right? Something is disconnected. I had a similar post like this a while back , and it was the venturi not snapped in correctly with the pump and intake tube..
