SKimmer Question

so lately my skimmer cup is being filled with bubbles and coming out of the vent holes in the collection cup. theres still some dark skimmate on the bottom but i'm wondering what could cause the bubbles not to pop.

any ideas?

I should add that I recently upgraded my tank, I put in new sand but brought over all the old rock and skimmer. that was 2 months ago though.

This is fairly normal. Sometimes it can be helpful (depending on the cause) to remove the overflow and replace with new saltwater. Sometimes things will get added to the tank, intentionally or otherwise, that will cause the skimmer to go crazy. Untill it's removed it doesn't stop. It might be removed by the skimmer, or could be absorbed by GAC. With having had a recent move, there's a good chance it could be caused by some die off that's causing a bacterial bloom, as already stated. You may also want to just do a quick check to make sure you're not having a mini cycle, in case die off is the cause.

I've been checking for ammonia and nitrite every few days. Also have an ammonia alert just in case.

I've been cleaning out the skimmer daily
