skimmer question

this is probobly a stupid question but here goes I have an sr4 skimmer its too tall to fit in my sump under stand so I am going to plumb it in to the side of the stand. everythime I plumb it in instead of getting bubbles I get water coming out of the verturi air hose. I have tried different powerheads and different length hoses all the same outcome. I am thinking the inlet on the sr4 is too small for the mj 1200 skimmers I have so some of the preassure is coming back. whats everyone think?

your venturi is backwards

I bet you have the venturi on the output end of the MJ. If you have much resistance, it would be easier for the water to go out the air line.

Many times when a Maxijet is used for a skimmer, people buy this small kit. It connects to the inlet of the MJ and it draws air.

Can you show a pic of how you have it set up right now?

yeah thats how I had it and I did a little experiment and just put the airline near the intake and hey look bubbles. thanks guys
