skimmer raffle

Sounds like a plan....raffling an item that most of us wouldn't have the funds to plop down on lately would be great.....

Jeff,

Is this something your talking about doing with our club or is it just a link to participate in their raffle? If it`s our club, count me in. Would it be limited to members only?

Although people are certainly open to participate in their raffle, I wanted to gauge interest with our members to see if this is something we would want to do as well. It might be a challenge to pull it off by the swap. However, perhaps this could be a drawing for our election meeting in May. Personally, I think it should be open to members and non-members with maybe a discounted price for members. I will run it by the rest of the board and see if/how we could pull it off.

As a new member I do not know much about the society but from reading this forum it seems that the frag meeting is the best attended.If the goal is fund raising than the frag meeting would most likely be the best choice.If the goal is a society member to win a nice prize then another meeting would be a better choice.
An Orchid society we are members of hold a yearly show with displays and AOS judging vendors pay for tables and items are raffled it is a money maker for the society.The christmas meeting is has a nice meal which members pay for, the society buys orchids and draw number to decide who gets what.

I would participate for a couple tickets. Would be great if it can be held by the frag swap. Winner need not be present like the other one.

Jeff;

I am in for at least 2 tickets. I like the idea to get it started fast so we can sell tix at the frag swap. I also think it is a good idea to pick winners at May meeting with prizes other than grand prize must be present to win.

I agree with multiple "big ticket" items throughout the year...if the ticket sales and overall interest permit it.
