Have a 9010 skimmer in (my first) 75 gallon cycling tank with live sand bed and live rock in place as well as some hitch hikers (worms, crabs, snails, etc), all of which seem to be doing well.
My question is how much to open the screw controlling the air intake on the skimmer. I am getting thick brown-green foam with the screw open a couple of turns, but the accumulation in the cup is probably less than 1/2 inch per day. I realize this is a bit of a judgement call as some seem to prefer wetter and some dryer foam, but I'd like some guidance as to how much collection I should normally expect from a tank this size? Just wondering if I need a bit more air flow and bit wetter foam?
Many thanks,
Neal
PS - For any of you buying this skimmer, I was initially concerned about microbubles coming out of the bottom and from the PVC tube. Let me assure you that they disappear once you have a reasonable bioburden in the tank. Just give it some time.
