skimmer suggestion

would like input on a skimmer for a 58g & 40b frag tank sharing a 40b sump/fuge.

I can get a asm g1 local cheap but I don't think it is big enough...also can get a mrc 1 fairly local...but I have never used this type of skimmer.

input or suggest another one...was also looking at getting a bubble magus...if I can get one shipped from the US instead of china.

Look into Vertex and MSX and SWC skimmers. They are all really good skimmers that have sizes to fit your tank.

www.nuocean.com sells Bubble Magus skimmers in the US. The BM-100 is pretty cheap & was mentioned in another thread as being worth the dough.

I would just make sure they carry replacement pumps. If the pump fails & can't get a replacement easily, that would be a deal breaker for me. That goes for any skimmer purchase.

Personally, the MSX-200 is really more suited for your size tank but goes for about $300. I'm very happy with mine.

I have a Reef Octopus DNW-150 Recirculating Skimmer on a setup similar in size. It works great for me, but the price is in the $250 range so I don't know if that works for you. I got mine for $100 used.

I agree, the msx 160, the vertex in 100 and 180 would all work just fine on your volume of water.

I'm planning a similar setup. My beef with bubble magus is that it doesn't have a bubble plate. I'm still torn between msx and vertex.

EDIT : my bad i think i only looked at the 160 and just assumed they all came like that...

dammit... this isn't getting any easier.. i hate the world... lol
