Skimmer Thoughts?

Hey all,

I was hoping for some advice on combo filter / skimmers (Skilters?). I have a small reef setup 26gal, and was looking inot these (space is limited for a sump).

Does anyone have any experiance/commnets on these units, and if so any particular brands?

I would suggest leaving off the filter part and just going for a high quality skimmer. Filters will become nitrate factories if not cleaned almost every day.

Just to let you know, most "combo" sumps contain crappy skimmers which don't skim very well. You would be much better off making your own sump/fuge from a regular 20 gallon Long tank for example. Than buy a Euro-reef skimmer for example. If you're looking for a really compact skimmer than look at the Tunze doc skimmers.
