skimmer?

I have the coralife super skimmer 65, it has been doing great until now, its running to wet, on the lowest setting its still putting water in the collection cup.


I checked the venturi line on the powerhead, its fine. the return is not blocked.

the only thing I did that I can remember is I topped off the sump with FW. and it went nuts and overflowed the collection cup.



any ideas?

i have been looking at getting a coralife skimmer and in one of the reviews i read that you can't fill the tank higher than the bubble chamber (don't have one so don't know exactly what that is). that may be the reason for the excess water i would check the water level and adjust to see if it has any effect. How does the superskimmer work other than the current problem?

did you add anything to the FW? like water conditioners, or de-chlorinators, or something along those lines? those are known to cause some skimmers to go crazy....

Dude I had a 65gl Coralife skimmer that did that once and it did not stop for a month. I had to turn it off for a whole freakin month.
Then a couple weeks later it did it again. IMO those skimmers are crap. The pump I believe sets off some kind of oil. Rio's I tell ya! I ended up replacing it with a ETSS. Then My ETSS did it!!!! And I do not add anything crazy to my tank so I wondered what it was that caused it. I will never buy another skimmer unless I can put a ball valve on the pump. This way if the skimmer starts acting crazy I can turn the valve down and still use the skimmer
