Does anyone have any pros or cons on a Pacific Coast RPS-1000 Recirculating Skimmer......my boss decided we would all have fun if we worked overtime fore the next few months so I decided that I could retired my Bac Pak and get a skimmer I don't have to stand in front of when people come over cause I'm embarassed and don't want anyone to see. It looked like a pretty good skimmer, it has to be better than my current one. Thanks Jason

I have the RPS-3000. Best skimmer I've ever owned. Big fan. Well built, consistant, energy effiecent, farely quiet for being huge and the price is resonable.

Just saw they bumbed up thier prices again, I got my NW150 for $125. Check ebay if you're going to be purchasing anytime soon because the online retailers have all increased prices since last week.

Yeah its a recirculating skimmer, I got it from reef tank supply. I've ordered from them several times and I'm pretty happy with the service.

I got my NW150 last night. When I opened the package the first thing on top was the schematic to assemble the unit. It was very detailed and very easy to follow. Anyone who has been in the reef tank world for any time should have no problems assembling the skimmer. This thing is huge. Way bigger than what I'd pictured, just an absolute monster. Something that surprised me was the cup lip and body of the skimmer are marked with SWC which I had not seen before. I assembled the skimmer in about 5 minutes, only 1 impeller came w/my pump so all I had to do was screw the cup on the union, attach the pump to the input, attach the air line input to the pump and attach the airline tube to the input. Mine also came w/a silencer which I had not yet seen. I dropped the skimmer in my mixing tank which held about 15-20g of fresh, pure saltwater and it started to produce tiny bubbles right away. I adjusted the riser pipe and it was very easy to notice the difference in the water column height in the chamber. I let it go about 4 hours and there was some very wet skimmate in the cup already, not very dark but I don't expect it to pull any sludge out of my mixing tank. I'm going to let it run a few days while I get my 10g sump ready for it. All in all, I'm very impressed and for $125 I'm very pleased w/it already. My only complaint so far is that I'm used to buying a skimmer and messing w/it for about 20 minutes before I get it dailed in.......this one I just dropped in the tank, plugged in and adjusted the height of the riser pipe.......2 minutes later I was done.....so no messing w/this monster.
