I think the whole idea here is that, the club was supposed to be a "for the members club" and then things are getting done without input from "the members " . Thats how I see it and why I think some people are saying change or vote on it . Just my opinion. I honestly do not have input on the logo, I think it looks good and the picture is a very detailed picture when it is bigger. But they are right that it doesnt really portray saltwater to most people. Since maybe 1% of people have a mantis tank. But I do like Mantis and have one myself, so either way will work out .

There are some things that get done without input from members especially if there were no members when it was started.

As has already been stated, we are open for suggestions.

I personnally like the ideal of the mantis shrimp. I think it represents the ideal of the club very well. "No one is not important" "Different from the norm can be great." I just have a problem with the arms. Mark is right, he does look like an alien,
I think it's the arms. something about the arms just isn't right. (Sorry Dennis) If I could send someone a picture of an ideal. My daughter drew this up real quick. It's not the best, but it would give an ideal. Someone with some real talent could run with it though.

There were NO members when the logo design was decided on. The board decided on the logo as the board had every right to do.

We have said that we are open for suggestions. What more do you want?

This is kind of fun and we do enjoy input from members. One thing we realized from the start was that the logo had to be unique, had to tie in with the slash theme and a lot of ideas were tossed around. We have discussed other slashing marine creatures such as Tangs and liked everything we discussed. Nothing says slash more than a Mantis but we also planned on having the other ideas incorporated into t-shirts as well. The mantis was chosen because it does say slash, is a highly colorful and respected marine animal. Getting a good picture of one is very difficult. What was designed will fit the membership cards easily and is easily recognized. T-shirts are another matter and we can be as creative and fun as we want with them.

Let's not get bogged down with the mantis, there are so many different designs that will work on a shirt, but what was chosen by the board is good for a beginning. We can and will have the slash name everywhere we can get it, with numerous logos, not just one.

That is just my take on it.

Ok, then ! I didnt ask for anything,just was stating why people thought it was a possible problem . I already stated that I have no problem with that as the logo or not as the logo ! Either way is fine. Suggestions are good, thats all I was saying and did NOT ask for you to do anything different . Sorry for stating my opinion and expressing any thoughts on the subject .

Anyone got any ideas let me know I can help make them happen. send me your pics ideas and thoughts. We will carry on with the one we got till we have another to vote on. Currently you have one to vote on so that makes it easy!

I do recall at the first meeting it was stated that a logo had not been decided on yet. I know that I wasn't the first member to join and a logo still hadn't been chosen; otherwise we would have had membership cards, right? I don't mind the current logo I just want a club that's going to be open and honest with everyone.

You are mistaken. We had someone working on the logo BEFORE the Town Hall meeting. We had someone hired to do the job.

Mark, what has been going on is we had a professional artist working on our logo. Those who made the meetings were aware of this. Capo brought it up numerous times and so had goalie66 who showed off sneak peeks at the last get together of what was to come. The last rendition I was asked to tweak it a bit and what is in question is the finally version. My $.02 is I was under the assumption that sense capo generously paid this person in hockey tickets for the work that we were not going to have a membership vote on something that was paid for.

Markk96 doesn't like it as a few others have expressed as well. He made his point and it has been decided that if someone else wants to create another logo the membership shall vote. That is what we are all about and you will all get what you want. We could just as easy have a vote on whether it stays or goes but we are not like that. We ask all the time for input some decide to express it non constructively but I like it. It makes us so interactive which is what the members want. This is what I envisioned in a club when I wanted to get the ball rolling with capo and the rest of the board. Someday we will get back to the good ol days of hanging out and the politics will some what be behind us. So keep talking and let us have it. We all have thick skin and ask those who don't take a 5 minute break before hitting the submit button from now on.

Yep, that be the official logo of SLASH. We are not voting on the LOGO, it was developed over the last couple months by the board members.

First of all I'd like to appologize to the entire SLASH board for my comments earlier. I clearly misunderstood the logo situation and am sorry for the confusion. I also wanted to say that I do like the logo that was presented, I feel it is very appropriate for our group.

I like it, Steve. Make that stuff that looks like trees on the ground be corals and I'd like it even better.

I didn't mean I didn't like it, I love the mantis. The arms of that little guy are creeping me out. I know that is how he looks, I saw the pic on the mantis forum. Maybe if they were not stretched out like that. But it still..... creepy arms.
