SLASH SPRING 2011 FRAG SWAP -> Sunday February 20th, 2011

Yeah, I'd say nook and jason are the two most easily spoted from across the room.
These things are always great fun, and I plan to attend again this year (missed the last 2 I think)

Things can get very hectic with everyone trying to see everything at once before its gone. people will but in front of you, and crowd you in, but dont take it personal....

Everyone I've ever spoken to at a swap has been very friendly, do not hesitate to ask someone who they are, chances are, you will be seeing them for years to come. We have a great group of members!

Hey, I would like to attend the SLASh event. Never been to one. The question is I live like 5 hours away from St. Louis, I don't mind driving all the way there, but I 'm wondering if the corals will be ok during the trip back in their bags plus acclimation time at home! or what would be a better way to transport them for such along time? I think they should be fine, since you can ship them overnight but just wondering....

They'll be fine. Last one that I went to, they ended up being in the bags for over three hours and some of them were in the bag longer than that because of where they came from and already bagged. Everything made it just fine.

If you are worried pick up a heat pack and ask your LFS for one of their styrofoam containers for the ride home. They should be fine since the car will be warm on the ride home.

One week to go, Woohoo! I hope everyone is getting as psyched as I am. Looks like we are going to have some excellent vendor turnout as well as a good showing by club members with tanks full of frags. Dennis is working on raffle items and we should have some nice goodies for some lucky folks. Looks like this will be one swap not to miss!

YES YES YES! Already made hotel reservations! I'm taking the whole family! of course kids want to go to the zoo and childrens museum and then daddy got to spend 3 hours at THE FRAG SWAP!!!! I'm new to SW so don't have anything to trade but willing to buy a few for my tank! so save me some small frags! man I'm sooo excited!!!

I'm trying to think ahead...
I'm usually a 1 thing at a time guy. So if I end up coming back with a bunch of corals, can you put them all in one container/bucket to acclimate?

Should they all be coming from around the 1.025 salinity? Is some stuff going to be treated(?)

I can imagine myself spending way too much on too many items here, and if you have to acclimate separate, that could be a real event.

Are they all going into the same system? If so, it should be fine as long as nothing touches the other so they don't spring into warfare with each other. If not, get separate buckets so everything has enough room not to touch.

and plastic bags, and buckets with battery powered air pumps and lots of $$$$$ to buy more!...if my wife only knew.....lol, I'm glad she likes that tanks so far!

This will be my first swap to go to and I am a noob in the hobby as well. So, do you need to bring your own plastic bags or will the people selling stuff have those? Where can I get my own bags at? I always throw the ones away that I get from LFS buys.

The people selling items will have bags. It's a good idea to have a small cooler or foam box to carry things in.

This is an odd question too but will anyone be selling coral dips? I need some... or should I just make a trip to a store before hand....??

Not odd at all. I have seen several vendors selling coral dips at the past swaps so it's highly likely someone will have some.
