Sleeper Goby

I'm most likely going to purchase a yellow headed sleeper goby from a local reefer and was wondering what experiences people have had with them. The guy who has him now wants to get rid of it since it's clouding up his tank since he has very fine sand, whereas I don't. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just picked up a ghsleeper about a week and a half ago.. I love him! He started munching the sand bed right away. He doesn't really swim up super high so the corals on the sand bed get a light sprinkling of sand. I have aragonite substrate so clouding of the water has not been an issue at all.

Yeah I also have aragonite so I'm not worried about any clouding of the water. I'll just have to watch out for any corals getting buried I suppose. :bounce2:

They can be very reluctant to take prepared foods and most tanks do not have anywhere near enough food in the sandbed to sustain them.

Provided you get one that eats well, they're fairly durable and long-lived. I don't know why, but they seem quite disease-resistant...I've rarely seen a sick one. They seem to either starve or thrive.

They do get bigger than most people realise - six, seven inches long.

As you know, they can bury corals if you have any on the sand.

The guy who I'm buying it from says it'll eat anything. It even steals algae sheets from this guy's tangs. So I should consider myself lucky.

Mine loves algae sheets too. He steals a big bit and drags it into his burrow
