Slime surrounding feather duster

There is a translucent slime covering 2 of my hitch hiking feather dusters. I might be seeing things but it almost looks like tiny little specks in them too. they dont mind the slime even if they are completely covered by it. any suggestions to what it is? is it safe to just leave it? or blast it with a baster?

I'd suck it out with a siphon if it's fairly loose blobs. jelly slime with specks may be a protozoan infection/ infestation and can spell doom to injured corals/ benthic inverts.
