slow dose 2 part vs. Ca reactor

That's it. Both work well. Some may prefer one and some the other but neither is necessarily "better" for every situation.

Now that that's settled, let's talk about DSB vs BB.....

Have any of you used Zeovit - what do you think about it?

I'm not saying what way is best. An automatic doser might be an easy route, but I'd rather not have 50 pound bags of calcium chloride and alot of baking soda to make up batches. It's just one more thing for me to do.

This is just my personal opinion. If making the batches or buying is fine for you, then great. The automatic dosing is exactly the same. You set it to the correct amount and do parameter tests every 2 weeks or so.

The deciding factors for me were three fold:
1) A good quality dosing pump is less than half what it costs to set up a good reactor.
2) The new larger media that is being recommended now is very expensive, more expensive than the ingredients in Randy's two part.
3) The most important is that I am allready comfortable with using a two part and can adjust levels intuitively without really thinking about it.
The bottom line is either method will produce outstanding results. Most seasoned spser's will vote for the reactor but there are a few around that have been using two part's for years with equally impressive outcomes.

I agree with chris 100%, like all SPS keepers the reactor or 2-part question is coming and going in my head. But today I calculated that for the reactor to pay for itself over my 2-part it would take 4 years of use. At this point, its not worth it for me. My friend has a wicked reef and he too uses the 2-part. We both dose it with the Aqua-medic reef-twin. An excellent device.

I started this thread a few weeks ago, but I am now ready to buy a dosing pump. Would a dual channel medical pump have any disadvantage over one that has separate control of each channel? I know Randy always says equal amounts of the additives should be added, but that always doesn't seem to be the case for my tank. Maybe it is just test kit noise?

I can get a dual channel reconditioned medical pump for about half the price of the aquamedic reef doser. The litermeter is a lot more than either.
