awesome! keep us posted!

IMHO a reef tank with fish does better than one without. I'm a believer that a solid fish load in a reef tank is part of the recipe for a fantastic tank.

as you start to think about plumbing try to us 1" or 1.25" plumbing, resist the urge to go to 3/4". if you haven't picked a pump look at the quiteone as an alternative, they are easier to clean and come with hose barbs - a quiteone 3000 would probably be a good fit.

for the sump go with glass baffles, you will be happy in the long run!

Thank a plethora of great advice, I will def. use the plumbing advice and fish just not sure what to stock as far as fish goes.. Some black clowns and yellow tang ? Or way to boring rainbow wrasse?

nice

nice

new canvas!

Your sump can also act as a 'fuge of sorts, Jason. You don't really need to do many special things to turn a sump into a 'fuge.

Slow build is great. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.

Sounds exciting! Nice choice on the stand too. Mine is cherry with raised panel doors and it really makes it look and feel like a nice piece of furniture. No worries on slow builds...I'm going on 3+ years ;)

Thanks for the support guys, any advice would be greatly appreciated I was actually feeling a bit over whelmed and questioning if I should do it or not but after reading I'm going to move forward, I had a friend who was going to help me with the woodworking but I don't think they'll have time. Maybe it's time I figured out how to do it myself. I'm interested Gary your a big pro fuge type?

I'm all in favor of a sump. To a lesser extent, refugium. If I were designing a reef aquarium I'd definitely try to include both.

PS: corals ARE invertebrates.

You will want fishes. Use them to help you maintain your reef.

A sixline wrasse for pests and a yellow tang(or tang of your liking) for algae control are traditional favorites.
