sludge eating bacteria

Hello, I have issue with dead organics that are trapped in rocks and slowly decomposing. This obvously creates lots of problems, main one I have is cyanobacteria.

I was wondering, is there bacterial products that have "sluge-eating" bacteria? Most I've seen is Nitromass(sp?) or something similar that just help seed nitrogen cycle going. What I am looking for is reef safe bacteria colony that will eat decaying matter (something similar like in septic systems).

Anyone?

I'm not sure if a "safe" bacteria has been developed yet like what your looking for?
I worked at DuPont's Chambers Works facility in Deepwater, New Jersey for a local contractor where they use this bacteria to breakdown solid and liquid waste. I dont' know much of the details but the smell was slightly below that of pungent swampwater if that gives you any idea?

I don't think it's deadly but we were advised to make sure it didn't get on us and if it did to notify a DuPont employee immediately. You might want to do some research on that idea though and post your findings which could prove to be very valuable .

There are already agents in your aquarium that break down everything you can throw at it, and everyone deals with the same issue. The problem is likely less due to a lack of organisms to break down organics than having adequate flow to get the organics to the filter, introduction of new organics to the system (feeding), lack of nutrient export by filtering/skimming, etc. I'm not saying this is a solution, but have you read any of the threads involving dosing sugar?

Yes I've read about sugar/vodka, but I don't think it is going to help me. What I am looking at is trapped inside LR dead things that didn't get out during rock curing, i.e. still decomposing... I know that the only way out of it is to wait until all of it rots and decomposes. While it is happening all the time, all I am looking for is some help (bacterial) to speed this process.

You might want to look into products like Zeovit, Prodobio, etc. They are bacterial suppliments for reef tanks, and can have a huge impact on the mulm, detritus, etc...

I've heard of Prodibio, ... so I am reading up on the subject. It sounds like what might be needed to give a boost to little critters that trying to demolish trapped junk.

bio-clean is BIO DIGEST and BIOPTIM packaged together. I can understand BIO DIGEST, but they say that BIOOPTIM has: Essential nutrient trace elements: Boron, Calcium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Molybdenum, Potassium, Sulphur, Zinc, etc.

What's up with that "copper" trace element? AFAIK, copper kills.

Copper is necessary in trace amounts.

You should buy some critters to eat the organics...

Personally I am planning on trying the Prodibio products because I have a nuisance algae issue, from all I have read people seem to be very satisfied with the results of it. I have heard more issues about the use of the reefbooster clouding the water and skimming issues after using it, but as i said most feedback seems to be more positive than anything.

No, no problem at all. lol. Also, fauna-marin, carried by aquarium obsessed, has a line similar to the prodobio. you might get a pretty good package deal right now as an introductory offer ( so Ive been told...).
