lol, thats classic. in any event, i have pretty cgood success with them. ive caught anything from highhats to juvi queen angels, neon gobies, pistol shrimp, sexy shrimp, sail fin gobies, jawfish, and many other things im sure are slipping my mind. it all depends on the terrain, if you can get on a flatter surface or places with shallow burrows youll have good luck. i usually chase the fish in a small crevice and then just slurp the front of the opening and it usually sucks the fish out, along with alota sand sometimes.

Blackthunda got a question by any chance could you tell m where u found the juv. Queen angel. cause i really want one of those or a juv. french.

just a fyi ........you should also note that a slurp gun is really not an ideal way to catch fish when it pulls them in it tears their gills as it pulls them in the gills are force backwards and results in micro tears in them and increases chances of infection and poor health from the lesions

possibility, but i have never had any issues yet with any of the fish i caught. much safer than the drop nets and even many of the hand nets in my opinion, not to mention chemical methods.

as for your question cracken, i have only been in the broward county area so thats all i can speak on behalf of. ive gone from hallendale beach all the way up to commercial blvd, and places like hollywood, dania, johnloyyd etc. ive seen them in all those places. just have to find the right size ones. juvi french are much easier than the queens and blues to find. i can even catch you one next time i go out if you still want one. i dont even go after the french anymore cuz its too easy and ive caught my share already and i gave one to a friend, one to my GF's tank, i hvae one in my FO tank, so i dont go after them anymore.

Where do you buy slurp guns at a reasonable price around here?
+1 i would like to know

Ive had a slurp gun for a few years now and ive caught hi hats, cocoa damsels, mixed batch of gobies, french angel and an arrow crab. I use the same technique that blackthunda uses but it seems that he has much more success that I get. Its tough to find a good shallow reef to snorkel and collect critters off miami anymore...........

hey now...stay away from my spots!!

lol, jk. but yea ive heard theres not much reef structure the further south you get untill you start hitting the keys. but that far south most places are not accessible only by boat. like i said, i go off hollywood beach, dania, and pompano. 2 of the best shore dives in the COUNTRY are in 2 of the 3 locations i just listed.

What do you do with the fish once you slurp them? Do you take them tp the surface or stay down and use a bait bucket or something.

both, sometimes i have my bait bucket tied to the flag (i have an inflatable dive flag) and sometimes if im not alone myself or one of my friends is holding it.

hey i tried it out today but i was way off shore via boat and is was super ruff i went down to slurp it up but it hap no slurp action really. So i ended up getting some lobster

no slurp action? thats weird, were you pulling on the handle hard enough? you have to pull on it almost as hard as you can. also its better if its not too rough, so that you can stalk the fish slowly wait for it to get close enough and then SLURP it up.

just a reminder, the fish or whatever your trying to catch has to be really close to the opening of the gun. its not gonna really slurp anything up thats more than a couple inches away. nothing alive atleast, lol. now that i think about it thats probably what you meant that it didnt have any slurp action......maybe we can meet up sometime in my area since i know decent spots and i can demonstrate for ya.

idk i think im gunna try off a beach up north. and im an also thinking of getting a thin piece of rubber around the inside to stop from water seeping through around the inside thing

Not to be a *ick but that's why your not finding anything. The only things that should be taken off the reef are thing you are going to eat and trash.

Why should you only kill the things you can catch?

I went to the keys today and caught some french angels in about 6ft of water while lobstering all I used was a small net and they went right it, you might want to consider trying that also
