Not to be a *ick but that's why your not finding anything. The only things that should be taken off the reef are thing you are going to eat and trash.

totally disagree. how do you think we have 90% of all our nice fish in our tank? magic? i mean people actually go out and catch those fish for us. whats the diff of us paying someone to catch it or us catching it ourselves? just taking out the middle man, and i find it much funner to catch my own specimens. with due dilligence of course and sparingly. im not advising people to go out and catch everything they can all willy nilly. just like we catch only as much as were gonna eat, we should catch only what our systems can support and what we plan on keeping long term.

May be a bit of a dumb question, but i live in Delray beach. What would be the best way to transport my catch say from the keys?

Just bag um?

i would just get a 5 gal bucket or an insulated cooler with a powerful airstone, (bait bucket setup) also, im sure youve heard it before, but if your in the keys make sure your not in a protected area. :)

well i WAS going to go to the coral restoration meeting tomorrow but they changed the plans and instead of going out snorkeling and surverying they are going to go to the UM fish hatchery facility to mount corals. with that being said, ive been meaing to get in the water for well over a month now so im kinda bummed so i dont know if ill be going down this weekend, instead i might be going out diving(shore dive) in my area, if any of you are interested and have time tomorrow, (weather and water clarity permitting) let me know. pm me or call me at my cell 954.471.5179....... ill be bringing my slurp gun :D

What time you planning on hitting the water?

Saturday
Partly sunny with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 90s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

I probably wont be back by then. If you want to go Sunday. I'll be more than happy to join you. Maybe look for some left over lobstas too :D

Ya, Okay...that statement makes a lot of sense...let's just kill what we catch... LOL. Sorry, could not disagree more.

I would love to go collecting with you guys, I have the nets and a custom collection innertube/bucket that holds a dive flag...but it looks too choppy and probably poor visiblilty today..if you need a report on conditions, email me or PM me. my condo is on the ocean so I can tell you guys if it's rough or not.

steve give me a call when you go. Ive been dying to but my brother always has something to get in the way

I don't agree with him about not taking a few specimens off the reef as blackthunda77 and I go out and only take what we can use in our own tanks. But I do think he was reffering to trash on the reef when he said "and trash" In other words if I was out there and could remove some fishing line or a six pack plastic thing or literal garbage.

I cought a juv. french angel that was swimming around one of those wooden markers 100ft offshore, a small highhat and a reaaly small damsel, the highhat and damsel both dissapeared that night, my french angel killed a clownfish and started attacking everything else. there is a reef with cleaner shrimp, but they all have only one claw(male or female?). I also put my slurpgun in a large hole where a fish had escaped and caught an arrowhead crab (i released because a friend told me they are agressive). Not very succesfull, goting from 7 fish to 2 (one died too with a parasite), but im a happy newb and it was pretty exiting!

You can't get to it off the beach in Miami Beach, I go to Hollywood and Dania Beach, the reefs are within swimming distance there and shallow enough to collect snorkling.

Yah, I manage a resort on Hollywood Beach. We should all go out one day from in front of my place. Blackthunda and I have a few times.

im up for it. streetjudge, i usually post on here when i go out. i usually go with ocean mang, but hes been swamped with work lately. if i ever post and you have time and wanna come with let me know. or if you want i can pm you when im thinking of going out. nivram was going to come with today to but our schedules got kinda messed up but the vis was pretty crappy anyways.
