Hello,
I bought a piece of coral a couple of months ago. I guess when I purchased this coral that the live rock that it was attatched to had several very small 6 legged star fish on it. They seem to reproduce like madd. Past experience has found that anything that repoduces that quickly is harmful. The coloration is similar to a sand sifting star fish and it the are about the size of a dime. Does anybody know if these specimens are harmful? I will try to get some pictures up soon.
Thanks,

I know what these are, i cannot think of the name at the moment, but they are not harmful, kind of......They will help clean your tank, mostly the glass, but they have been known to SOMETIMES eat softies and SPS....so, you just have to watch, i know a guy who has a 125 gallon with TONS of them in there, and yes, they reproduce ike mad, but they dont do anything to his tank......so, it is kinda cool.

I have them in my tank. I have tried to get rid of them just in case they were harmful to corals by just picking them out as I see them but they just keep coming back. They appear to just eat algae off of the acrylic and rocks and have not seen them bother any corals.
