Small container for RODI

Hey guys,

I am having some issues finding a jug that will fit in my space. Because I have a 55G sump in my 125, there isn't a ton of room in the stand. The space I can spare is about 4.5 inches wide.

The height is about 43 inches and the depth is 19 inches. I was wondering if someone could suggest some sort of container that will fit in this space. Thanks!

Petco is having a $1/gallon sale. Go pickup a 5 or 10 gallon tank to put in there. Even a regular 5 gallon bucket would work.

Only thing that came to mind to me when you said 4.5 inches wide, would be those plastic containers sold at home goods stores that people put cereal in. They are narrow and have decent volume to them. When my wife wants to pop in bed bath and beyond I always find something for my tanks/fish. Hahaha!

Make an acrylic reservoir.
How would I go about doing that?

Not a bad idea. :)

The problem with one of those containers is that it will only hold 1.5g, maybe 2g, so you 'd end up refilling it every day or so. Kinda negates the advantage of an ATO IMO.

As for making a container out of acrylic - thats about as easy as it gets if you have even minimal tools/skills. I would use 1/4" acrylic. If you can't cut it to size yourself, any glass shop should be able to. If not, there are local acrylic (sign) shops in pretty much every location that certainly can cut pieces to size, and will probably even have pieces of scrap they can sell you at a very good price.

Weldon 4 is the solvent you will want to use, although 16 is thicker and perhaps a bit more forgiving. just tape the pieces together and then run a line with the weldon 4 along each seam. capillary action will draw it into the joint.
