small daily automatic water changes

Im considering bulding a system using a couple pumps, a couple solenoid valves, 3 timers, 2 float switches,a relay,a 2 gallon container, and a 55gal drum of pre-mixed salt water to do daily 1 gallon (adjustable) water changes automatically. I think it will work pretty well and be quite simple to set up. Im not great at keeping up with my regular water changes, 1 gal per day would do roughly 20% of my water volume per month.

So im wondering, would 1 gallon water changes per day be equivalent to the 10% water changes im doing now every two weeks?

Ill draw up the plans and post them for the automatic system if anyone is interested.

BeaslBob has broke this down over on the other reef forum site. Its in the north alabama reef club forum.

This article by Dr. Randy Holmes-Farley is the information that you are looking for.

The article explains with tons of easy to understand graphs how impurities accumulate in tanks over time, the number of strategies to reduce the impurities, and what effect various percentage of water change and the change method have on the level of impurities.
