Small mishap

I just got home from work and my Ritteri decided it wanted to go for a walk. I believe it hit the power head because some of the tentacles look really odd. It's currently on the glass and I noticed something a little different on the bottom of the foot. This is the first time I've seen something white from the bottom of the foot. Should I be worried?

It looks like a small tear with mesenterial filaments coming out. I wouldn't be too concerned assuming that you have a healthy mag. How long have you had it?

I forget exactly how long but at least a few months. Was healthy before just started moving when I added clowns to the tank.

In that case, is should be fine, though you now need to figure out why it start to walk.

Mags typically don't walk unless they're not happy -- if your water quality is up to par, then not enough light or not enough flow are the two main culprits. They also like a flat rock on which to perch, unlike other nems that prefer to bury their foot. Keep it away from the side of the tank, or they'll inevitably try to climb up.

As D-Nak said really unusual for them to just go for a stroll out of the blue. You may want to spend some time figuring out why he went for a stroll.

The wound doesn't look too bad, I personally would monitor it for a few days, just make sure you have cipro and extra SW on hand as they can go downhill very fast and are hard to recover once they do.

My stomach turned early this morning seems to be having a hard time mounting it's foot. I left it on the glass waiting for the white stuff to go away because I didn't want to increase the stress but it's still there. Last night some of it's "guts" were out and didn't feel as sticky but pulled away when I touched it. Didn't have time to stop by now on my lunch break. When I get home I'll possibly have to take some fish out of qt early and set it up for the nem ht.
It looked so good last night but we all know these animals can turn in a heartbeat. I hope it's not too late when I get home. I turned off one PH and slowed down the other.

Just a random thought... is it possible that my clown was too rough on it? This is a new clown to my tank and I've never seen one so aggressive towards an anemone.

Clowns have been known to kill anemones by "over-loving" them. However, what I've noticed with my clowns and nems are that the clowns appear to be rough on nems that are already in some form of stress, whether acclimating or sick. For this reason, I don't have any clowns with sick or injured nems. Other times we don't notice what clowns are doing because the nem can withstand the rigors of the clowns. For example, I only see clowns try to dive bomb into a nem's mouth when the nem is sick -- and is usually expelling dead zoox.

Regarding the nem itself, hopefully it's doing okay when you get home. IME established nems of all species are very hardy, and can heal from injury quite well.

I was able to come home real quick, the nem moved again but looked better than it did this morning. I lowered my T5 to be about 7-8" AWL. I took some left over rocks from my nano build and quickly put together a "pillar" for it. The foot attached pretty quick which put me a little at ease. Hopefully being in the center of the tank and pretty high up will make it happy enough not to move again.
