Small Sump?

I want to set up a sump/fuge in my 29 g. and don't want a hob set up. Can anyone give me advice on what I need? Remember I'm on a budget. I have a skilter that I bought when I set the tank up but I'm not happy with it.

If your on a budget I would just get a canister filter and a seperate protein skimmer until you have the money to put into a sump. We all went through the skilter stage and that is not going to cut it for you probably. There is a lot of helpful info on this site as far as making your own sump. DIY. Good luck

when I had my 29 going (before the 90) I used a canister and a coralife protien skimmer and it worked great since the tank was not drilled for a sump. The only advice I would stress is clean the filters in the cannister regularly..it can be a crap trap which you do not want...Once a week I would rinse out the filters and put them back..worked like a charm...oh and for the record..I fell pray to the skilter filter too so I feel your pain...A coralife 65 skimmer changed my life and quieted my tank..
