I have a 15g with a true 3" perc and I am looking for 2 more fish but considering I only have a 15g....my question is what is the smallest reef safe fish that is not in the goby family???...... I am looking for a open water swimming fish... Pseudochromis???

trimma gobies will be the smallest although they aren't readily available. what about a PR of neon gobies or 2 firefish?

Try a Fridmani, Springeri, or Elongatus. Yellow assessor. Covered aquarium, Helfrichi Fire.

The Springeri is the smallest of this group at around 1.5" and very cool but my vote goes for the Yellow Assessor, slightly larger @ 2" and my favorite by far.

+1
Assessors get a little bigger but tend to hang under caves - visible, but not "active." Beautiful colors and beautiful fish.

I have a Flaming Prawn Gobie that's about a half inch. It's fun to watch him flair his fins. I second the Trimma gobbies too, I have 3 of them.

After reading this over again, I suggest upgrading to a 30 gal. That way you have more options with fish. I love my 30 cube.
