Smallest Tang I've ever seen

I got a maculosus angel smaller than that about 11 months ago and now it is about 7.5". They require additional care when they are that small. I raised mine in a 20 long till it was about 2" then moved it to a 150g till it hit 4" and now it is in my huge 11 foot display tank.

i got my hippo between nickle and dime size.. and he isaprox 3-4 "now(aprox 6 months later) and the best advice i can give on little tykes like that is

stress free enviorment
multiple small feedings a day
mature tank so he can graze
nori for grazing

Thanks for the tips! Right now its in a little frag tank 44"x18"x8" and seems to be fine... once he gets bigger i do have tanks set up and established that he can go into... I kept him out of the DT to avoid conflict for food/territory... Also there is a 4" Lavander tang in the DT... Hoping oneday these 2 can be tankmates! :)

As of now its only the tang and a small 6line sharing the tank

multiple small feedings a day

He gets fed 3 times a day and grazes on the algea in the tank

mature tank so he can graze

Tanks established! :)

nori for grazing

And i failed on this one... i tried nori when i first got him and he never ate it... He'll eat algea off the tanks bottom, but nothing "given" to him... Any ideas on helping this?

try putting it an a piece of rock where it lookslike algea covering the rock but not wayving in the waves where he "thinks" he is eating off the rock

Startd to eat nori, so thats a good thing... Still eats mysis and pellets like a pig... I think some of you were right with it not being a Thompsoni... The body shape isnt the same... Really starting to look like a Dussumieri....

I've always wished I were a genetic engineer. There is soooooo much market for animals that never grow past "baby" stages. Can you say "perpetual kitten?"

I know that feeling, I have a tang right now that is only about an inch or more. No one knows the ID on it yet. Thinking it is a Bariene tang. But my tang eats everything like crazy. Guess you gotta do like me and wait for it to grow some to figure out what you have. Good Luck

very cute, I just got an atlantic blue not much bigger then he is. Best of luck... I was told to do multiple small feedings also....hopefully they make it. It will be great to watch them grow up.LOL
