How small a tank can you keep a single octopus in? Would a 12 gallon eclipse be sufficient? How about a 29? My son really wants one, and I know I can't put it in my folr. And I really don't want another big tank.

Thanks for the input.

Hey Michael,
Ben here, I've been checking into the octo thing too, I am currently building myself a 75g octo tank, with tight fitting covers
as these guys are consummate escape artists, I'm planning on filtering this thing with just a H.O.T. magnum & a CPR bakpak skimmer and about 85 to 90 lbs of fully cured live rock. I decided to go with the 75g because I housed one in a 55g about 4 years ago and it just didn't do him justice. Make sure that you keep optimum water quality and you'll get a couple of years of enjoyment out of these fantastic, smart, little beasts! A site to check out is www.Tonmo.com, it's a pretty good site dedicated to octo keeping! if you also need someone to construct a nice little tank for you, I'd love to help you out again! I'll post some pics when mine is finished! later -Ben

Yeah, it's me, I'm getting my own tank building gig going, it's pretty exciting! the interest level where I live now seems to be piqued, lots of folks have summer cabins way up here, so alot would just be fresh water (so they can watch thier catch) but I'm going to be offering maintenance packages as well, kind of got the corner on the market, but I intend to do the same quality if not better, and ship them all over, living the dream, turning the hobby into a career for myself! If you have any other questions, I'm on this site just about every day, ceck out www.thecephalopodpage.com for some reliable dealers, keep in mind though, it may be more wise to go to a local shop and special order one, they some times ink the bag they are shipped in, croak, and your out the cost of the creature plus your shipping and handling charges. have fun!
