Smoking clam??

ok i looked at my tank tonight and see my tank is a little cloudy.... do not know why.. we a couple of seconds later my clam is smoking... what is he doing is he ok?? here are some pics..

I think it may be spawning! Just a guess I never seen one do it in person, lets see what the other guys think...

i hope it is that... i love him, he is like 8-9" it was the crazy sight to see... the whole take looked like smoke...

Looks like spawning to me too.

You could try the guys on the ClamsDirect forum. They might know for sure.

Yes it is spawning, most likely due to some sort of stress, like higher temperature.

I would recommend do a partial water change and add some activated carbon to help clean up your water.

i just got him that is why the stress i guess.... the water is clear today

Spawning is where they release the eggs and sperm but 99.8% of the time, they can not be raised in a closed system.

thanks guys... he seems to be doing great now, when he did this he was new to my system. he is fully open and happy. i think he will be ok
