Smoothdog's 150DD build

looks like you did Ole Kinderhook for filling up your new frag tank! I noticed that you also have a eyefi card. How do you like it?

Thanks Eric. I really like the EyeFi card a lot! Sooooo much easier than manually uploading everything. It even sends the pics to Flickr automagically, then I just make public what I want to share.

I got suckered by the LEDs on a couple frags. I already have the setosa and tricolor but they looked different under the LEDs even after I asked them to turn up the whites. The tricolor looked like it had yellow polyps instead of green and the setosa was a vivid red, not orange. At least the tricolor may be a different one than the one I already have. It's hard to tell now but we'll see when it start growing out.

I'll buy them from you if they are doubles as soon as I have the tank dialed in and "alive". Just don't leave me alone near the frag tank. I have sticky fingers and ziploc bag lined pockets lol

Everything looks good btw. I need to read up on this thread to find out what exactly you are doing so I can do it too.

Good lord if the holding & frag tank look that good can't wait to see the display.

Me too!

The setosa is definitely a double. I'll see if I can't get it to grow out a little for ya. ;) I have ziploc sniffing dog that is trained to attack if any unauthorized baggies are detected! :debi::lol:

Okay, so the new floor is in, now I just need to build a stand. The tank will be going where the cardboard on the floor is, but I can't seem to make up my mind how I want to do the stand. The lines will be going through the floor against the wall and will be at the corner of the stand so I was thinking about having double legs inset a little from each corner, I would also like to have only the legs touching the floor. The new flooring is bamboo and is pretty water resistant but if some were to spill on the floor and run under the stand it would be nice to be able to mop it up before it soaked between the boards and caused issues...

Hopefully it won't come to that, but good to know if it does. I'm also planning to put down mats/rugs to catch minors spills and drips.

with as dense as bamboo is it is really resistant to taking in water ime but not getting it on there is always preferred. Ask my company cleaning lady who spilled a bucket of water on a brand new engineered floor and cost us 2 days plus material. That was only a couple gallons:facepalm:

Ouch. This is stranded bamboo, which, as the name implies, is strands of bamboo mixed with a resin then pressed in a form to shape it into a board. I ran a piece of it under the faucet and the water just rolled off of the top and sides but a little bit soaked into the end. So like you said, not getting it wet is preferred. ;)

do the bucket test and see how it holds up. Im not kidding when i say these fans will save your you know what tho

Why don't you build the stand with a "catch/drip pan"? That way if you spill a little water it can just sit in there until you clean it up or you just let it evaporate. One of these people on here (me) with tons of experience with working with acrylic could make it for you pretty cheaply also. If you want something that fits perfectly all I would need is a template or some of those very accurate measurements you tend to give :D ...

That was actually part of the plan. I was planning to use either a waterproofing paint or a waterproof membrane and put a drain similar to what I did with the sump/frag tank stand. I also thought about using an acrylic tray like you are saying but I'm considering incorporating some tile into the lip. If I change my mind I'll definitely let you know. Measure once, cut twice.

Smooth, check out my 200dd thread. I recently put together a drip pan on my stand. It was cheap and relatively easy to construct. My knees didn't like me the next day though.

Thanks Pastey, but my sump is in the basement so the bottom of my stand will be dry, at least for now. :D Whatever I do will go directly under the tank and will be exposed at the perimeter so it will need to have a furniture grade look.
