Since it is no more a big secret and i have been asked several times:
Yes - we are developing a SMS module at the moment. The prototype is already working.
The features at this state:
- works with any SIM card
- battery operated -> message can be sent while black out
- current state of sensors, powerbars, ... can be sent periodically or during alarm or on request
- does NOT occupy a slot
We are always interested in the customers wishes - i would appreciate if someone has good ideas for this product and could post it here!

Mike,

i started this thread to get some input regarding SMS-modules.

For wishes (new firmware-functions or new hardware) I created another thread "Hardware & firmware wish list".

I think its important to have some structure in this forum, otherwise its not easy to find the information you are looking for.

With SMS (= short message service) you can transmit text messages from a cellular phone to another.
Or in this case: from a ProfiLux to a cellular phone.

how about the ability to monitor another power feed, incase you have the profilux on a UPS?

How about making it possible to put expansion cards into the SMS to get beyone the limited number of slots available in the controller itself?

I would think the SMS would be a perfect place to also put in the LAN or WLAN card and the USB card also.

Just an idea.

I think you might be a little late to the party on this one since the SMS orders are already being taken.

I have it from a reliable source that the SMS module does include expansion slots!!!

I don't see where they would any room for an expansion in the modules. Look at the pictures in this thread, there is no room for expansion from what I see.

Im still trying to figure out the Digital I/O slot.... anyone have any ideas ???

could be all sort off thing, personaly my tank is in the basement where the cell signal doesn't come in, maybe the I/O can be used for a remote antenna, who knows.......

Maybe the digital io is somehow connected to the expansion? I know nothing about hardware so maybe someone who does can chime in here.

I may have spoken to soon regarding the possible expansion via the SMS,
I'd just like to say that this expansion possibility is in no way confirmed yet and until it is lets not get our hopes too high.

But I am sure the SMS will be a very big hit if it does allow the possibility of expansion and I'm doubly sure that GHL is working hard to get further expansion possibilities beyond what the EX unit does.
